Addressing the life impacts of trauma
for Australian learners

Conference themes and subthemes

Aside from hearing from national and international experts in trauma-aware education during keynote addresses, we are also keen to hear from education leaders, practitioners and researchers.

We are keen to hear about trauma-aware thinking and practice in:
  • First Nations education
  • Rural and remote education
  • Higher education
  • Alternative education (including Youth Detention Centres)
  • Education systems
We are keen for individuals or teams to share successful trauma-aware models that work for:
  • Early childhood education and care
  • Primary schooling
  • Secondary schooling
  • Alternative settings
  • Higher education
We are also interested in:
  • Supporting staff and workforce well-being
  • Animal-assisted support for trauma-impacted learners
  • Messages from trauma survivors to education providers
  • Hearing the latest from national and international research
  • Higher Degrees Research projects 
  • Progressing systemic trauma-aware education in states and territories across Australia

We have limited spots available for presentations over the three days of our conference. 

There are four options for presentations. 

  • 45-minute presentation (plus 5-minutes Q&A)
  • 45-minute workshop (involving interactive activity) (plus 5-minutes Q&A)
  • 20-minute research presentation (plus 5-minutes Q&A)
  • 10-minute presentation of your Higher Degrees Research Project (Ph.D, Ed.D, M.Phil) during our HDR Lightening Session (max. 2 PowerPoint slides, no Q&A)
